Discover Oakhurst Equine & Thoroughbred Farm from Above
This video, filmed and posted on youtube by Dr. Root’s brother Ashton Root seven years ago, offers a nostalgic glimpse of Oakhurst’s early days. It captures the landscape and the 2,500 trees Jack and our four boys planted between 1996 and 1998—along with the five miles of fencing they put in one summer, that helped shape the farm as it stands today. What began as open grass pastures with no buildings has grown into the vibrant home of Oakhurst Equine Veterinary Services and Oakhurst Thoroughbreds.
Oakhurst is also home to the historic Ewing Young tree, believed to mark the burial site of Ewing Young, a pioneer who settled this land before Oregon became a territory. You can learn more about his remarkable story here.
Take a moment to soar overhead and experience the beauty of Oregon’s Chehalem Valley—where history, horses, and heart come together at Oakhurst.
