Oakhurst Equine Veterinary Services offers an engaging and supportive internship program designed to strengthen your clinical skills, deepen your equine knowledge, and prepare you for a successful career in equine veterinary medicine.
Program Overview:
Our internship program is designed for veterinary graduates who are seeking a well-rounded experience in equine medicine. Interns will work closely with our experienced team of veterinarians and technicians in a collaborative and mentorship-focused environment.
What You’ll Gain:
Hands-on experience in equine primary and emergency care
Exposure to lameness evaluations, imaging, sports medicine, reproduction, internal medicine, podiatry, and dentistry
Involvement in case discussions, client communication, treatment planning, and follow-up care
Opportunity to observe or assist with procedures and surgeries based on your interest and readiness
Participation in after-hours emergencies and on-farm visits
One-on-one mentorship from our veterinarians

Location & Facilities:
Located on a 147-acre Thoroughbred farm in Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley wine country, our practice is a short drive from Portland and within reach of the coast, mountains, and outdoor recreation.
Annual Salary:
First-year internship annual salary ranges from $46,000 to $60,000, depending on prior horse handling skills and the depth of your equine externship experience.
Housing:
