Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Equine Surgeon

Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Equine Surgeon – Be Part of Expanding Equine Surgery in the Pacific Northwest **

About the Role: Oakhurst Equine Veterinary Services is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible equine surgeon to join our collaborative and forward-thinking team. This full-time or part-time position is ideal for a surgeon with strong soft tissue and orthopedic experience, including advanced lameness diagnostics and therapeutics. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing an equine surgical referral program from the ground up—shaping its standards, scope, and success alongside a supportive, skilled team.

Our Practice: We are an equine practice providing comprehensive veterinary care, including:

  • Advanced lameness and sports medicine

  • Reproductive services

  • General and preventative medicine

  • Internal medicine

  • Podiatry and dentistry

  • Diagnostic imaging

  • 24/7 emergency services

While we currently refer cases requiring gas anesthesia, colic surgery, and arthroscopy, we are actively building a dedicated surgical suite to bring these services in-house. This is a unique opportunity for the right board-certified or board-eligible equine surgeon to play a key role in shaping, equipping, and growing our surgical program within our practice and region. Estimated time of completion summer of 2026.

Location: Oakhurst is located in Newberg, Oregon—nestled in the stunning Willamette Valley wine country, just southwest of Portland. Our clinic sits on a 147-acre Thoroughbred farm, only an hour from the Oregon Coast or Mount Hood and just a few hours from the recreation paradise of Central Oregon. The region offers exceptional dining, hiking, skiing, fishing, and more, all at your fingertips.

Why Join Us: Join a growing practice that is thoughtfully expanding its surgical capabilities. We have the space, vision, and commitment to build a state-of-the-art surgical suite, and you’ll be welcomed as a valued voice in that process—not expected to do it alone. This role offers the opportunity to contribute your expertise, collaborate with an experienced team, and help shape the future of equine surgical care at Oakhurst at a pace that supports both excellence and sustainability..
